What We Do

One Stop Cares is dedicated to preventing homelessness before it happens by stabilizing individuals and families who are already housed but at risk of losing their homes. Over 60% of the working families in Florida are cost burdened, meaning that they are spending over 30% of their household income on rent. Over one-third of these families are severely cost burdened, meaning they are spending over half of their total income on rent alone, leaving little for food, clothing, transpiration or medical. These families are only a paycheck away from being homeless, adding to our already large homeless population. In a time when the majority of working households are cost-burdened, one unexpected setback—a medical emergency, job disruption, or temporary financial gap—can threaten housing stability. That is where we step in.

Through our Embrace • Inspire • Empower (EIE) Program, One Stop Cares provides personalized, short-term financial assistance paired with long-term guidance and accountability. Participants work one-on-one with an Empowerment Navigator to develop realistic goals focused on financial stability, employment sustainability, education, health, and overall well-being. Assistance is intentionally structured as a hand up, not a handout—reinforcing responsibility, dignity, and self-sufficiency.

One Stop Cares

Our approach blends compassion with measurable outcomes, offering tools such as rent stabilization support, savings incentives, budgeting guidance, and connection to community resources. By addressing crises early and investing in people who are actively trying to succeed, One Stop Cares reduces displacement, strengthens families, and preserves stable housing.

At the heart of our work is a belief that housing stability is the foundation for everything else—health, employment, education, and hope. Through prevention, partnership, and purpose-driven support, One Stop Cares helps individuals move from crisis to confidence, ensuring stronger households and healthier communities.
